Is It Just Me Or...

1. ...Has SYTYCD become super sexual?  Last nights opening performance where the chicks were dancing on the pianos in the rain with lots of low camera booty shots caused my husband to say out loud, "Good God....is this a dance show or a strip club".  And don't even get me started on Mia Michael's number from Wednesday.  I LOVE Mia's work, but c'mon...the chick is married. Or did we forget that? Oh yeah, another man grabbing your bum doesn't count if you're on SYTYCD or an actress or...*insert excuse here*.  I'm sure her husband was thrilled and just so proud.  We want our young women to be classy and intelligent but what are shows like this (and 90210 and Gossip Girl and Audrina Patridge's waaay-too-steamy commercial for Carl's Jr.) teaching our super impressionable young women (and teaching our young men about women)?  I'm just saying...

2. ...Didn't Michael Jackson, the cute one with the amazing voice as a child, the one we all rocked out to in the 80's, die years ago?  Have we forgotten his disturbing interviews where he proclaimed that young boys sharing his bed is natural and right?  Um...I haven't.  I mourned the loss of this great talent years ago.

3. ...Have you also been trying to resist reading the Twilight series but since EVERYONE loves them are about to cave?  I'm thisclose to doing it.  Even my super-practical sister, Kari, is completely hooked.  Did you read them and love them or should I look into other summer reads?

I totally agree with you on #1, it is just crazy what is on some shows nowadays. My husband and I have even seen shows advertised on ABC Family that seemed inappropriate! :O #2 I agree, he is probably the only person on Earth to get this honored after such a lifestyle. #3 Not reading them despite everyone telling me that I just have to. ;)Have a good weekend!

1. I agree, there's too much sexiness on tv, but that's what sells. I noticed it especially the other day when I saw Padma from top chef on another Carl's Jr commercial.

2. Regardless of his personal issues, he was an awesome singing talent. It's too bad that the last half of this life was filled with such turmoil.

3. I read the Twilight series and loved them. Here's some other suggestions:
* The Hunger Games-- It's set in the future. The main character was chosen by lottery to be in a fight to the death with 23 other teens, while the rest of the world watches on tv. It's kinda a sci-fi, but it's also a romance, too.
* My Sister's Keeper-- if you want a good cry, this one's for you. I cried from the first chapter until the last page. The movie just came out yesterday, I suggest reading the book before seeing the movie. It's about what you're willing to go through for someone you love.

Have a good weekend (and congratulations on your pregnancy!)

Stopping by from SITS. We watched videos of MJ off and on yesterday. I loved his older work.

I don't watch SYTYCD anymore. I guess I just lost interest after the first season. It's too bad they are portraying a lousy image to girls. I am sure a very large portion of their fan base is young women. Anywho, #2 is SUPER insightful and I couldn't agree more! And as for #3.... I have resisted despite multiple people trying to convince me otherwise. Don't give into temptation! ; )

#1...couldn't agree more. It's sad really...because dance is such a beautiful art form that has fallen the way of the rest of the arts, where obscenity is considered acceptable as "art".

#2 I also feel that MJ's death isn't nearly as sad as what his life had become.

#3...I've read the books. They keep you hooked because of the suspense factor...you can't stop reading. But at the end of the day for me, when I was done I kind of rolled my eyes a little at some of the stuff I was reading.

Haven't seen the movie.
